Assignment 8: Macro Photography
These photos were taken for Assignment 8. We were to shoot photos using the macro mode feature of our cameras. Sometimes I found it difficult to get a sharp focus when shooting in macro mode.

Three Point Lighting Assignment #7
These portrait photos were taken as part of our Three Point Lighting Assignment #7. In class, it looked so easy to get the lights set up correctly. At home, I had a lot of problems with deep shadows behind my subject and was unable to achieve the halo effect that I had wanted to try out.

Assignment 3: Photo Story/Biking the MS 150
http://picasaweb.google.com/melaneyw/PhotoStoryAssignment3MS1502009?feat=directlink
My husband and I biked the MS 150 in Columbia, Missouri last weekend. It is a huge fundraiser for the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. We both have friends who have MS. Ron rode 176 miles over the course of the two days. I rode 76 miles. Ron rode last year. This year was my first time. There were 3500 cyclists on the ride and 700 volunteers taking care of all of the logistics. There is a lot of comraderie as people camp, eat and cycle together. I was proud to be a part of it. The weather was glorious. It was a great weekend. My photo story is an expose' of my experience.
Photographically, I found it hard to take pictures while cycling. I wasn't able to hold the camera steady and cycle at the same time. I also did not want to break my camera while trying this sort of gymnastics. So, I kept having to stop. As you can guess, I did not always want to stop on those hills and lose my momentum. Because of this, I missed some very nice photo opportunities. Taking photos certainly added to my ride time.
I still need to do some editing of my photos.
I am very slow at changing the settings on my camera and wish that I had more manual settings on it.
